Take the opportunity when possible, to examine their job and provide them with feedback shortly after the shoot. Make sure that they do the other things necessary to mirror you when you can not be there and their shooting style matches yours. You don't want your freelancers to be like fish out of water when your client is used to getting things done a certain way. The less willing they are before a shoot, the more obvious it will be that this isn't one of your normal shooters.

The best way is to hook up the camera during filming, and watch the track all. This way, see post if the camera has transferred out of its position, you'll know.
